Here's an update from our CEO, Shaheena, about the PKAVS board.
We’re always looking for ways to improve how we work together at PKAVS, and one of the key areas we've been focusing on is enhancing communication and transparency across all levels of the organisation.
At the last Staff Connect Day, some great feedback came through, specifically around how we could improve interaction between staff and the board. We listened, and we’ve taken action!
Since then, the Senior Management Team had the opportunity to meet with Sarah Brown, a charity law expert and one of our Board members. It was an open and honest discussion about the challenges we all face, and from that conversation came a brilliant idea: Board Service Champions! These champions will act as a bridge between staff and the board, ensuring better communication and representation of staff voices at the highest levels.
There’s also been some exciting changes on the board itself. We’ve welcomed two new board members—one with a strong finance background, Simon Dawe, and another with expertise in counselling, Nioma Robertson. Both bring fresh perspectives and skills that we’re really looking forward to having onboard.
Sadly, we’ll be saying goodbye to our communications expert Ruth Fry, who has been a fantastic contributor. We’ll miss her insight and dedication!
Last Wednesday, the board got together, and alongside approving the Board Service Champions, they also participated in a fantastic training session delivered by Inspiring Scotland. The focus? Understanding the board’s roles and responsibilities, ensuring that we’re all working together as effectively as possible.
This is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter in how we communicate and collaborate. So, watch this space—there’s more to come!
