A message from Klara and Robyn, our Career ready Interns

You might have met Klara and Robyn, who spent their internship through Career Ready with us in July! Please see a brief summary of their experience with us below and how this might have shaped their future career plans!

Robyn’s summary:

‘’On my first day here at PKAVS I was very nervous on entering the building but once I was in the office for about 5 minutes the fear was gone. The team at PKAVs are all so welcoming and help you adapt to the surroundings. Something that I found challenging was finding my way to the Carers Centre and it not in a well-known area but once I had been a couple of times it was easy to find my way.

Working at PKAVs has reassured that I would like to work in a line of work where I help vulnerable adults. When I got told I would be working at PKAVS I was a bit unsure as I had no idea what PKAVS was. But during my time here I have tried to make PKAVS known to my family and friends, making sure that I add in that PKAVS is a charity and it is not Perth and Kinross Council run.’’

Klara’s experience:

‘’I really enjoyed my time at pkavs as all the staff made sure to make me feel comfortable by being very welcoming especially on my first day. I was quite nervous as I wasn't 100% sure what I was getting into but shortly after settling in I was introduced to everyone with big smiles and kind words which calmed me down instantly.

I had the privilege to be paired with another intern and work on a fun filming project together making the whole experience less stressful and easier as we had each other. I also had the privilege to work with the other staff from different locations of pkavs, being able to build new connections and relationships with many people.

At first, I wasn't sure what pkavs was but after this internship I was able to educate my friends and family what pkavs really is and how much difference they help to make around Scotland.

Overall, this experience has taught me a lot about the workplace and has definitely been worthwhile journey.’’
