Last week, Raymond celebrated 16 years of working at PKAVS. In honour of this milestone, here are his thoughts on what he appreciates the most about working in the Carers Centre.

What are some of the highlights of your time here so far?
"The reason I have stayed for so long is because of the staff I’ve worked with over the years and seeing the positive difference you can make in peoples lives who are maybe struggling. When I was younger, and a lot less grumpy, I really enjoyed working with young carers and building positive relationships with them. The fact some young carers who I worked with years ago still pop in to say hello now or will stop me for a chat if I see them in the town (and if I still recognise them as the often don’t look the same as they did when they were young!!!) is really lovely and makes you think you made a difference. My role is very different know but hopefully I can still make a difference but just in a different way to before."
You can read more about Raymond in our Meet the SMT! profile.
I was a young carer when I was younger so that motivated me initially when I joined PKAVS as I wanted to help children get the support I didn’t get. Since become the carers centre manager it’s become clear that the challenges carers of all ages face every day are difficult to hear about so you just want to do what you can to help.

Raymond, congratulations on your 16 incredible years at PKAVS!
May you have many more years of creating meaningful connections and spreading hope and kindness.
Here's to celebrating you and the amazing work you do!
